#9 Pordenone - Udine (70 km)

Rivers, rebels, treaties and beers

Pordenone – Codroipo (40 km)

Leave Pordenone Railway Station (km 0) and head toward South, crossing river Noncello and then river Meduna (km 5).

Pass by the village of Fiume Veneto and head for Casarsa della Delizia, the birth place of the poet Pierpaolo Pasolini, whose tomb is at the entrance of the local cemetery. Cross the river Tagliamento (km 32) and its large bed: the river Tagliamento is going to be linked with Ciclovia Alpe Adria in the North and Lignano in the South, by a dedicated cycle route.

Codroipo – Udine (30 km)

You have now entered the province of Udine, head for the town of Codroipo and, just before the village of Passariano, you will encounter the historical Villa Manin (km 43), which is famous for the Treaty of Campo Formio, signed between Napoleon and the Austrian Monarchy in 1797: the  treaty delivered Nothern Italy to Austrian domination for barely one century. Now the villa is used for exhibitions and concerts in its gentle fields.

Head towards North and speed up to Udine, the capital of Friuli: pass by BasilianoColloredo di Prato and Pasian di Prato. You have finally arrived in Udine (km 70), enjoy a fresh beer in Piazza Libertà, under the imposing castle, and taste the local dish frico. Don’t forget to pay tribute to the revolutionary woman Tina Modotti, in via Pracchiuso 89.

Gold Partner: TRANSAMAZONICA 2020

We are three friends starting a cycling project in order to develop and share consciousness about the state of the Rainforest. As the name suggests, from June 2020 we will cycle along the Transamazonian road BR230 in a completely eco-friendly way, and we will document everything that we will go through – both the gorgeous beauty of the forest and the human imprinting on Nature.

#10 Udine – Trieste

Leave Udine, direction South. After Manzano, a design furniture district, you will cross the walled Gradisca. Cross the river Isonzo, which was celebrated by the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, and take your time to visit the Sacrario di Redipuglia, a moving monument dedicated to the Italian soldiers died here in WWI. After the airport Ronchi dei Legionari, you will face a typical kind of mountains called Carso. Reach the seaside in Monfalcone, and get into Trieste on a panoramic road. Go to Molo Audace: AIDA ends here.
